Johnnie Walker, the number one Whisky brand kicked off a month-long celebration of their iconic Blue Label with a challenge befitting the exclusive Whisky.
Twelve of New Zealand’s best amateur golfers and a host of celebrities and influencers attempted to hit an eagle on the 18th hole at Remuera Golf Club, this week officially launching the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Eagle Round.
Just 53 people managed to score an eagle on the 18th hole at Remuera Golf Club in 2023, and with just one in 10,000 casks of Johnnie Walker Whisky making the grade for Blue Label, it’s a suitable partnership to celebrate the rare accomplishment.
“With a change in consumer behaviour and more people valuing quality over quantity, the Blue Label caters to both Whisky aficionados and those looking for the ultimate flavour experience,” said Jaron Stockman, Senior Brand Manager, Lion.
“A classic Whisky on the rocks will always be popular, but as the demographic of Whisky drinkers looks to be getting younger, the highball has gained popularity as people are understanding more about how Whisky can be used to create tasty cocktails.
“The number of people who manage to hit an eagle in their lifetime is a pretty exclusive club, so what better way to acknowledge the feat this month than to partner with Johnnie Walker Blue label,” said Stockman.
Scotty “Sumo” Stevenson hosted the event as media and guests were treated to the action where golfers including Harry Na, Mason Lee, Gareth Paddison, former tour professional Richard Lee and rising PGA star, Cameron Jones attempted to shoot an eagle at the launch, alongside former Black Cap legend Grant Elliott (pictured in main image).
Conditions were perfect as the golfers teed off before the rain made an unwelcome appearance. But the inclement weather wasn’t enough to stop Andy Wright, the man behind the popular Golf Sleep Repeat Instagram account, and longtime pro Paddison, who both got the crowd of celebrities, influencers and the golfing community cheering with spectacular eagles.
The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Eagle Round will run for the month of June at Remuera Golf Club.
About Johnnie Walker Blue Label
Johnnie Walker Blue Label is inspired by Alexander Walker’s 1867 Old Highland Whisky. It was at the forefront of an era when fewer casks were available and quality cask selection was in its infancy.
This blend contains rare, mature Malt and Grain Scotch Whiskies that present a multi-layered symphony of flavours, supple and balanced with notes of chocolate, hints of grass and malt.
Its finish of floral, spice, smoke and honey results in a unique and satisfying sipping experience. Best savoured neat with the palate cleansed and cooled by iced water, accompanied by scorched almonds.
An extraordinary whisky to receive and a discerning choice of gift when you want to make a special occasion truly exceptional and memorable.
