Ingredients
-
4 puff pastry ready rolled sheets
-
1 egg, lightly beaten
-
¼ cup cinnamon sugar (made up of ¼ cup caster sugar + 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder)
-
winter fruits (pears, apples, plums), sliced
-
icing sugar, to serve
Wrap up your winter fruits with buttery pastry to enjoy as a feel-good breakfast or a light anytime-snack. Your housemates will thank you. Makes 8 tartlets.
-
Pre-heat the oven to 200°C.
-
Cut two sheets of the pastry into 4 squares each. Do the same with the remaining two sheets, but then cut a smaller square out the middle of each to create a frame of pastry.
-
Brush the original 8 squares of pastry with the beaten egg, then overlay them with the pastry frames and gently seal the edges around the outside with fingertips or a fork.
-
Arrange sliced fruit of your choice in the centre of each pastry frame, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
-
Bake for about 15-20 minutes until the pastry is golden and the fruit soft and syrupy.
